About our Executive Director, Mendes Jaime Jó

Mendes Jaime Jo serves as the Executive Director of Taremba, providing strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s programmes and operations across Manica Province, Mozambique.

Mr. Jaime brings extensive experience in community development, social protection, and organizational management, with a strong commitment to improving the well-being of vulnerable children, young people, and families. His work focuses on strengthening community-based initiatives, promoting social inclusion, advancing community health, and supporting sustainable development in underserved communities.

Under his leadership, Taremba works closely with communities, government institutions, development partners, and civil society organizations to deliver impactful programmes in the areas of child rights and protection, support for orphaned and vulnerable children, community health, youth and girls’ empowerment, human rights, and environmental protection.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jaime has contributed to the planning and implementation of community-driven interventions designed to strengthen local capacities, improve access to essential services, and create opportunities for vulnerable populations. He is committed to fostering partnerships that generate sustainable and measurable impact at the community level.

As Executive Director, he is responsible for guiding Taremba’s strategic direction, ensuring effective programme implementation, strengthening institutional development, and promoting accountability, transparency, and excellence across the organization.

Mr. Jaime is dedicated to advancing community-led development and believes that lasting change is achieved when communities are empowered to shape their own future. Through his leadership, Taremba continues to work towards building more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities throughout Manica Province.
